The Lakes

The Lakes Corridor includes part of the Provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut, in the Northwest of Argentinian Patagonia, and the IX and X Region in the Northern Chilean Patagonia.
The landscape, composed by imposing mountains, majestic lakes and magical ancient forests, is enriched by charming myths and legends, which grant a special mysticism. But there is another component which gives the area an unrivalled richness: the presence of its primitive settlers, indisputable makers of large part of its history, culture and identity.
Geographically, the well-known Seven Lakes Road joins the cities of San Martín de los Andes and Bariloche, which dazzles visitors with its successive sceneries of extraordinary beauty.
Another main attraction in the area is represented by the various recognized ski resorts: Caviahue, Chapelco, Catedral, Bayo, Batea Mahuida, La Hoya, Pucón and Antillanca await lovers of snow during the winter season, with infrastructure and services of international quality.
But the generous geography invites tourists during all seasons to practice sports and recreational activities in matchless natural frames: hiking, horse-riding, mountain-biking, climbing, fly-fishing and kayaking are some of the most recommended activities in an ideal scope for adventure travel, exploration and discovery.
