• The Races
Club Lácar organizes regular ski and snowboarding competitions at Mount Chapelco , which generate enough income for other activities.
All these activities are organized in combination with the club volunteers who contribute with their labor.
Significance of the FIS races:
The FIS races circuits are acknowledged at an international scope. The number of races registered in the FIS annual schedule reaches several hundreds, but not all the ski resorts have authorized trails for such competitions, nor all the federations or clubs have the necessary capacity to organize them.
It is evident that the best level racers take part in the World Cup circuit, followed by the Continental Cup. The third category is the FIS races, and there are other lower categories.
Every year, Club Lácar organizes races for levels 2 and 3.
The official ski and snowboarding competition calendar for this year includes several important events:
» FIS: August 28, 29 and 30: Snowboarding Cup - Snowboarding Cross / Big Air / Parallel Slalom.
» FIS: August 5, 6 and 7, Memorial Federico Graef. Américo Astete Trophy and South American Continental Cup: 3 Giant Slaloms.
» Children's Encounter: August 2005.
» Province of Neuquén Championship: August / September 2005.

•Cooperation with the community and the resort races:
» Quito Astete Memorial Timing.
» Inter University Timing.
» Inter College Timing.
» Chapelco Tetrathlon Timing Cooperation.
There are also alternate races organized by other ski resorts, such as the National Cadet Tournament, the Children's Championship, etc.

• The purpose of organizing races
Although for our local athletes races represent a way of showing everything they have learnt, for our community, its importance lies in the fact that:
» they are events that summon a large amount of people and racers from places other than our city.
» In the case of the Memorial Graef, this is the first competition on the FIS calendar in the world.
All these races are organized and timed through the volunteer work done by the members of the Club and many collaborators who like sports.-
