This is a privileged nook in the mountain range, due to its beauty and its closeness to the trans-Andean capital city. El Colorado is the most popular winter resort among the Chileans and probably the most ancient, as in the 1930's, when the sport started to sprout in Chile, it was in the Farellones village where the first wooden skis brought from Switzerland were tested.

Formed by two interconnected villages, it is located within the metropolitan region, at scarce 39 kilometers from the city of Santiago and it is part, together with the adjacent resorts of La Parva and Valle Nevado, of the largest and best "skiable" surface in América del Sur.
With a maximum height of 3,333 meters over sea level and a 903-meter vertical drop, its 1,000 hectares, authorized for the practice of sports receive abundant and short snowfalls, with an annual average of 5 meter of snowfall. El Colorado also has a system to create artificial snow, thus guaranteing the duration of the season. The 22 runs of the resort, which are accessed through 18 lifts, allow visitors to enjoy skiing and snowboarding with a good snow quality. Also, they provide many opportunities to practice off-piste ski, both for beginners and experts.
In the Farellones village, the most ancient and traditional, and in the modern spot called El Colorado, an interesting hotel and gastronomica infrastructure unflods, within which the Colorado apart hotel and the Posada de Farellones, the first hotel in this site, stand out.
