You can hire this excursion in a tourists agency and be driven by experimented pilots to vibrate and feel zero gravity in these well equipped vehicles.
We recommend you go to Cerro Avanzado, 16 km. from the center of the city, an outing in
an environment of immense beauty.
The 4x4 vehicle will pick you up from your lodging place and drive along Av. Roca paralel to the coast to the south.
The last urban sector you will see is the southern neighbourhood, where there are many houses to rent and first level aparts. At the end of Av. Roca you turn to the right in a 75 degrees angle to access a wide debris trail. |
Fasten you seat belt and get ready to cross this winding road through the Patagonian steppe.
As you travel you will notice that the soil has been impoverished in some sectors by several forest fires.
Along the way, it is possible to see guanacos, choiques, maras, foxes, herons, armadillos, and a great variety of birds. |
After some minutes, the driver will suddenly turn to the left to get into the dunes.
Then get ready for hard core emotion: steep hills where you will feel the vertigo of an extreme experience. |
The vehicle is completely safe: it has four wheel drive motion, wide radial wheeling, special for this kind of circuits.
After this high dose of adrenaline, you will be driven through the natural beauties of the region at lower speed. |
On the cliffs you will see some 30 million years old sea fossils, whales bones, cetaceans and mollusks.
By the end of this excursion you will get down the vehicle and walk around the place at 102 meters above sea level. There you will see Península de Valdés and Golfo Nuevo on the east. On you right you will see Punta Ninfas and Morro Nuevo on the other sector. |
The guide will explain to you that the white sediments you observe in cliffs around you are very old and belong to Patagonian sea, while ocher red sediments over the white ones belong to the entrerriense sea from 30 million years ago.
Twice in Patagonia the sea covered big extensions. The surface of the earth was lower and had a vertical movement while the Andes were being formed and volcanic ashes were deposited on the bottom of the sea in several layers.
After an educative talk, you will start you way back to town along the same road. |
