This type of journey can be hired in a tourists agency or to make a reservation directly with Gustavo Holzman, the owner and an expert guide who wil take you around different circuits.
One possibility is to start with a two hours horse-riding around Bahía Redonda, and then skirt the coast of Lake Argentino, where you can observe birds such as flamingos and black neck swans in their natural habitat , apart from an astounding view of El Calafate from the neighbouring mountains. |

Another option is to go on a six hours riding to Cuevas del Walichu (see outing), distant 5 km. from the town, skirting the coast of Lake Argentino, and passing by Laguna Nimez (see outing), from where you have a panoramic view of the city from the neighbouring mountains. |

On your way you make a halt to have some rest and a snack on the coast of the lake, as did the pioneers, the old settlers who rested in El Calafate on their way to Río Gallegos when they transported wool from one place to another. |
Along your journey, the guide will tell you the history of the places you go through and of the economic pillars during the first settlements period.
