The Nahuel Huapi National Park shelters countless natural nooks that show the beauty of the mountain range landscape. Los Alerces Cascade is one of these spots and everything from the tour to the very waterfall is enjoyed by visitors.
Before crossing the bridge over the Manso River heading for Mount Tronador, the tour takes the road on the left, which follows a picturesque circuit up to los Alerces Cascade.
With the eyes fixed on the mount and its snow-capped summit, the rubble road crosses thick cypress and coihue forests, typical of the area, and causes amazement with beautiful panoramic sights appearing behind every bend and slope. From the top, the blueish green of Lake Las Moscas and its solitary beaches surrounded by green mountains may be observed. |

The route, too narrow to make a stop for a couple of photographs, is bordered by the river on the right. Little by little, the Manso becomes more agitated and gives origin to the rapids that may be observed from several trails reaching the coast.
A new crossing over the river enables visitors to spot the southern shore of Lake Hess, a small water body with 1.5 kilometers of length and 700 meters of width, maximum.
This natural area is so wild and quiet that is chosen by local and exotic animals, such as the wild boar, as their habitat.
A detour, 400 meters ahead, leads to Lake Fonck which, with its 4.5 kilometers of length, offers good opportunities for fishing and navigation. |

Back on the road, the river is now on the left and the parking space is 2 kilometers ahead.
A few meters more and a well-defined path reaches the first significant fall of the Manso River: Los Alerces Cascade. Faithful to its name, this beautiful cascade is surrounded by ancient alerces (Patagonian cypresses), which protect the area with their shade. |

leaving from Bariloche heading for the South towards Lake Mascardi along Route 258, about 35 km are traveled along a paved road up to a rubble path that forks when it reaches the Manso River rapids: one of the branches goes to Lake Roca and Los Alerces Cascade and the other leads to Mount Tronador. |
