Cathedral
Across from San Martín Square, the Cathedral has a modern facade with fourteen stylish hexagons representing the mystic body of the church and twelve figures symbolizing the Apostles.
This composition is completed by a bigger figure with a cross representing Christ and a different hexagon with a crown symbolizing Virgin Mary. In the upper part there is a modern carrillon bell installed in 1999.
Inside the Cathedral you will see the Via Crucis, made by the artist Eduardo Barnes, a sculptor from Rosario born in 1901.
In the church lie the remains of Tomás Mason, founder of the city. |
Nazaret
This house of spiritual exercises is situated in Víctor Arriaga street, to the east of the city. It is in the middle of a wide park with gardens. Along the access there are fifteen bas-relieves representing the mysteries of the rosary. Visitors are received by the figure of the Guardian Angel, specially brought from Rome.
Our Lady of Fatima's Sanctuary
It is situated on Don Bosco Square, a few steps from the Provincial Legislature. Its architecture is modern, being the shape of David's Star the basic element for the development of the building. Across from the Sanctuary is the hermitage of the Thinking Christ, whose image sculped in linden wood was donated by the Polish community.
Carmelites Monastery
Situated next to Nazareth House, here monks live in the cloister and one can talk to them through some symbolic bars in the locutories. In the chapel, the image of the Holy Virgin Mary of La Pampa is venerated. The sculpture was made by a Carmelite monk, and in it the virgin is wearing a "poncho" similar to the ones which may be acquired in this place.
