It has already been said: the Perito Moreno Glacier is an impressive beauty from every point of view. Its closeness and easy access open various possibilities to visit it. This time, we went on a lake tour across the Rico Arm in Lake Argentino in oder to come closer to the glacier and admire the real size of its ice walls.
Inside the National Park and 6 kilometers from the vantage points lies the bay known as “Bajo las sombras” (Beneath the Shadows), the place where adventurers get on board to leave on the nautical safari.
As the catamaran sails across these waters, the icebergs breaking off the glacier can be seen floating adrift. |

When the southern end of the Canal de los Témpanos (Icebergs’ Channel) is reached, the boat stops at a prudent distance off the glacier’s wall and starts bordering it from one end to the other. The silence and the expectations to witness a break-off take hold of the crew.
This tour perfectly displays the fantastic blue shades and the whimsical shapes of the Perito Moreno.
