Pumalín Park
Pumalín Park is a project developed by the American Douglas Thompkins to protect the temperate rainforest.

This place is destined to become a Sanctuary of Nature, a special designation of the State of Chile that provides additional environmental protection where no industrial activities are allowed.

A 320.000 hectares natural reserve of public access, it has an information centre in Caleta Gonzalo, where there is a camping site, lodge, restaurant and cafeteria.
In the fjiord Reñihue you can hire boats that take you to the sea wolf colonies and Michimahuida volcano. From the cafeteria leaves a trail that leads to a spectacular cascade in three hours walk across the forest.

Between Caleta Gonzalo and Chaitén you will find two hiking trails: the Tronador is 12 km. long to the south, and the trail to Cascadas Escondidas is born on the north of Feliú bridge.
Aother shorter walk is the one along Los Alerces trail, that takes 20 minutes and crosses the river through a suspension bridge.

The walk is easy for everyone. It crosses a milenary larch forest with didactic signalling that provides biological and historical information.
