Hiking to the Valley of the Lost Ones
After 8 km. you must turn left through a dust road to Challhuaco Valley, where the shelter is emplaced.

You can hire the transfer with or without a guide in any of the tourist agencies in town.
Once you get there you must only fasten your hiking shoes and start your adventure. In the shelter you can take some leaflets to interpret the environment you are about to visit, or your guide will tell you the secrets of this forest.
Hiking to the Valley of the Lost Ones
The trail is very well signalled, and you must only follow the blue marks.
The interpretative trail joining Neumeyer shelter and this valley will show you all the plants of the high Andes, the steppe and the forest ecosystems.
You will soon be walking through the thicket among tree trunks, roots or brooks hidden among flowers and old branches.

The forest you are crossing is a part of Nahuel Huapi National Reserve, a protected area, for what you must walk strictly through the marked trail, carry all your trash back to the shelter, and not cut or damage any species.
You will see wild flowers and a dense thicket extending to the end of sight.

If you pay attention you can hear the songs of several birds. Only some of them live on tree branches and others on the ground among tall plants.
Hiking to the Valley of the Lost Ones
Soon the forest becomes less dense. You have arrived to the Valley of the Lost Ones. The origin of this name refers to a pioneer family of Bariloche who got lost in these hillsides while they were trying to set the limits of their lot.

This is a unique viewpoint from where you have a 360º vista of the mountains covered in snow or painted in different colors according to the time of year.
Contemplation and rest, and then back to the shelter, where you can have lunch or tea while you comment on the anecdotes lived during the journey.
