To get to this site where mountain activities are practiced, go along the Arrayanes Avenue towards San Carlos de Bariloche. After 3 Km. turn left into Route 66, which leads to the Mount Bayo Ski Resort. Travel the last 200 meters until you get to destination.
Sergio Broder, the owner of the center and tourist and mountain guide, will be expecting us and explain to us the various options we will have to spend an afternoon with tons of adrenaline. |
 |
Our activities will begin with a quad ride. 90 c.c. quads will be waiting for us to leave at full speed on a guided excursion through the coihue forest located on the slopes of Mount Bayo, where we will enjoy nature during the thrilling ride.
The circuit presents various degrees of difficulty, but it is not necessary to have previous experience as the center has specialized guides who teach visitors how to surpass the various obstacles on their way. In only 5 minutes, it is possible to learn how to drive the quad and thus embark on this amazing adventure.
After the intense ride, during which various panoramic sights are appreciated and tips about the local flora and fauna are learnt, we can go climbing on the main wall at La Piedra where we will make our best effort to conquer the highest step in the recreation center. |

This activity enables visitors to climb natural walls through the top-rop modality, by means of which the instructor offers safety to climbers with the help of ropes. You will have to wear a harness, pluck up courage and pay special attention to the instructions given by the mountain guide during the ascent. |
The La Piedra Recreation Center has various climbing routes according to the climbers' experience; therefore, we will have the possibility of choosing the most convenient alternative:
Naughty Rocks: 25 m. approx.
Bloody Path: 25 m. approx.
Little Louse: 20 m. approx.
Negative: 35 m. approx.
Hidden: 15 m. approx.
Once the top is reached, it will be time for rapelling, an amusing way to go down the wall feeling vertigo in each leap on the face of the mountain.
Like climbing, rappelling presents various degrees of difficulty adjusted to the experience of each adventurer, from beginners to experts. |
 |
In order to make the descent, we will be provided with all the necessary equipment. Harnesses, carabiners, ropes and automatic belayers to make this adventure safe are some of the elements we will have to use.
To complete the descent, we will have to choose the route according to our experience. For such purpose, we may choose the “Little Louse” -20 m high approximately-, ideal for beginners; the “ Colatar” -25 m high approximately-, special for people with an intermediate level; and the “Negative” -35 m-, only suitable for advanced level or people not suffering from vertigo.
The instructor will teach us what is the best way to descend. Short leaps and letting the rope slide along the automatic belaying device will be enough to fully enjoy adventure. |

To put an end to the afternoon with all the excitement, there is nothing better than making a descent with the Tyrolese rope, traveling a distance of 50 meters sitting on a cart that slides along a steel cable at a height of 4 meters, developing a considerable speed but braking softly by using an elastic rope as the end of the circuit is reached. |
The Tyrolese rope or cable car, as its owner calls it, is special for all those people who feel very much like having fun without any age limits, from children to adults. You only have to sit on the circular cart, put on your safety belt and let yourself be slided along the cable that crosses the center.
Another attractive option is jumping on the elastic bed which provides all the necessary safety to make the most surprising pirouettes without any risk to bump into anything with the possibility of making 360º turns. |
Furthermore, in the winter, snowshoes hikes allow visitors to enjoy the snowed forest in Villa La Angostura from a different point of view.
Visitors may engage in all these interesting activities when they visit La Piedra, an unforgettable site where adventure is enjoyed minute after minute. |
