Rio Chico Valley and Lake Strobel Español
Leaving from Gregores along provincial route 25 to the north, you must go on straight ahead, even when in km. 3,5 there is a turning to the Aerotechnical School.
The main refference indicated by signs is Cara Riera 66 km. You must go on skirting the patagonian steppe until km. 58, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Valley of Río Chico, an improvised oasis with a luxuriant vegetation contrasting with the brown and gray colors of the surroundings.

Rio Chico Valley and Lake Strobel
If history and nostalgia are your main interest, we recommend you take the crossing with route 40 at the height of km. 72 to the west-northwest. All is pure aridity during the 108 km. that lead to Tamel Aike.
Defying the wind, the ruins of an old police station and post office stand out in the immensity of Patagonia. Next to this place, the remains of an old country hotel, Las Horquetas, complete the scene.
A solid stone building used decades ago by the rural population of the region during their cattle transportation is today a mute witness of an unfinished past.
South of Hotel Las Horquetas but hidden by Meseta del Viento is Lake Strobel, an interior mirror apt for fishing, with an access limited to four wheel drive vehicles. This lake receives its waters from Barrancoso river, born to the south of Cerro dos Cuernos.
