Skiing in Valdelén

Only four kilometers from Río Turbio is Mina 1, where there is an integration and recreation center known as Valdelén (lengas valley) where you can practise Nordic or cross country ski in its three tracks.

One of these attractive ski tracks is 500 m. long and has a fall of 19º, what keeps the snow good from April to September. There are no excuses not to ski!

     The other tracks have drops that reach the 38º, with a skiable fall of 250 m., apt for beginners and experienced skiers. The total skiable surface is 100 has., and its maximum height is 850 m.
    To get to the tracks you can use the ski-lifts and chairlifts, which have a capacity to elevate an important number of skiers.

Be careful! You must keep to the assigned trails because the forest is so abundant that it is difficult to move among the lengas.

In this winter resort you can also do other activities such as snow jet ridings, sliding and photographic safaris. While you do these activities you will appreciate the massives of Torres del Paine National Park.
After an exciting slide you can visit the cafeteria and enjoy its excellent service. At the base of the track is Hostería "La Frontera", that offers the services of cafeteria, restaurant and hotel.

If you visit Valdelén diuring August, you will enjoy the Provincial Snow Festival, where you can participate in folklore festivals, watch excellent plays, see handicraft fairs and sports competitions.

In Mina 1 you will also find the facilities of Albergue Municipal, built in a cabin style, that receives tourists and delegations.
Valdelén is a wonderful place. Its small size and its people form a familiar atmosphere that you cannot miss.
