Villa Traful

In harmony with a privileged environment, Villa Traful invites visitors to co-exist with nature in all its forms. Nestled on a mountain slope, it resembles a balcony over majestic Lake Traful. Laid out in the shape of a terrace, it overlooks the scenery opposite the water body.

It represents a mandatory stop while traveling between Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes, both of which lie approximately 100 kilometers away from Villa Traful. In turn, 60 kilometers separate it from Villa La Angostura. Some stretches of the road are made of gravel. In the summer, they are well maintained. In the winter, is it necessary to be alert for possible snowfalls or ice on the pavement.

Provincial Route 65 borders the lake and is the axis of this settlement. The streets in the village are not straight but winding and priority is given to the slopes on the ground. They create an asymmetric but neat design.

There is a civic center where the main community activities are concentrated. The village spreads around several kilometers towards the outskirts giving origin to new commercial developments.

There are few permanent residents but they all work hard to make the town grow, especially as far as tourism is concerned. The number of visitors who wish to visit an exclusive environment hardly altered by man increases year after year.

Amidst countless tree species, the buildings have become adapted to high thick woodlands and wood prevails in all constructions, including fences and ornaments.
Villa Traful is proud to have crystal-clear waters free of pollution and a lake that mimics the color of the sky. Its multiple aquatic activities and beaches of gorgeous sand or rock make it the appropriate place to spend delightful vacations and rest.
Lovers of angling can find a wide range of possibilities to catch good salmon in its rivers and lake.

As Villa Traful lies inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, certain rules are followed regarding the management of the soil and special cares to avoid environmental pollution.

Hills upholstered in vegetation and large cascades falling from its rocky formations promise great sites for hiking and horse riding tours to get deep into its wonderful natural richness.

At present, it provides great variety of lodgings, gastronomic venues and tourist services to welcome visitors year round. Each season is enjoyed in a different way. Only certain authorized centers provide Internet access.

Villa Traful lets travelers get away from the daily habits of the large urban settlements. Even though there is no disco, there are sites where good music, dinner or draft beer may be enjoyed while a film is on.
