The city of Chaitén in Chile is the capital of the province of Palena, situated by the Pacific ocean, at a distance of 225 km. from Esquel.
Its history is quite recent, and it is a very picturesque place.
In 1933 there were only three houses that received the monthly visit of a state ship, and at that time there was only one street named after the first parish priest.
The growing commercial activity of the colonists has turned it into a village with all the services and a paved aerodrome full of life.
You will be able to admire these soberb mountains with almost virgin vegetation, volcanos, eternal snows, beautiful glaciers, navigable rivers and waterfalls.
Only some minutes from the city you will find El Amarillo Hot Springs, a spot without any facilities, but with mineral hot springs of an extraordinary benefical quality, apart from beaches, mountains, rainforest and lakes. |

The total distance is almost 500 km., for what we reommend that you stay overnight in the city of Chaitén and take at least two days for the complete outing. |
