There are multiple invitations to sail and see the Beagle Channel, one of the main natural sceneries in the region. |
Navigations along the Beagle Channel enable visitors to see the extraordinary geography and wildlife of Tierra del Fuego on board modern boats that tour around the surrounding islands and bays.
Groups not larger than 16 passengers leave from the port of Ushuaia on various half-day or all-day tours. |
One of the most complete itineraries passes by Alicia Island to observe a colony of sea lions. Afterwards, the boat approaches Isla de los Pájaros (Birds’ Island) where king cormorants and imperial shags may be seen. Finally, it reaches Isla de los Lobos (Sea Lions’ Island) in order to spot specimens of these mammals, both South American sea lions and South American fur seals. On the way back, after passing by the symbolic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, passengers land on Bridges Island to go hiking on a wildlife mapping tour. Furthermore, this islet contains important vestiges of the primitive Yámana communities that dwelled in these lands. |
The all-day option continues the tour up to Makinlay Pass, where passengers enjoy regional dishes for lunch. After that, navigation continues up to Martillo Island in order to see a colony of Gentoo and Magellanic penguins. Lastly, passengers land on Estancia Haberton to go on a guided tour around the shell and the museum. They return by bus. |
Another interesting proposal invites tourists to sail along the channel up to Lapataia Bay, in the surroundings of Tierra del Fuego National Park and Redonda Island. They land on Cucharita Bay to admire the sub-Antartic forest and then enjoy some Patagonian delicacies and good Argentinian wine. |
