To get to this panoramic point you must go along Sarmiento street and take National Route Nº 3 to the north. After 3 km. you will find on the left a debris road leading to the top of the mountain.
The summit is 212 meters above sea level and from it you can contemplate the city in all its splendour: the port, the beach and the big tanks, Rada Tilly village and the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean melting in its deep blue on the line of the horizon with the light blue of the sky. On clear days you can even see Caleta Olivia city to the south. |
The name "chenque" means cementery or burial in the language of the aborigines who lived in this region, since a tribe who lived on the coast of Comodoro Rivadavia is buried in this place.
According to legend, those who visit this place and rub their hands with sand and clay will probably return to the region called by the spirit of the aborigines. |
