Things to do
- Piedra Parada: on provincial route 12, by the Chubut River and 40 km from Gualjaina, a huge rock formation protected as a provincial nature area since 2006. It was first climbed in 1993 and is now a well-known climbing destination: in 2012 it hosted the Petzl RockTrip.
- Regional Creole Skills and Chamamé Festival.
The name
It was first known as Rincón de los Leones (“Lions’ Corner”), after the pumas. The current name, “Toad’s Crossing”, recalls Biciara, a resident who helped people cross the Chubut River; accounts differ on whether he looked like a toad, swam like one or wore a green suit. The bridge over the river was built in 1963.
