The Virginia Choquintel Municipal Museum is a cultural and heritage space located in the city of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Inaugurated in 1985, this museum is dedicated to preserving, researching and disseminating the history and natural and cultural heritage of the Tierra del Fuego region, providing visitors with a deep insight into the richness of this southern area of the country.
The museum is named after Virginia Choquintel, an outstanding woman of Selk'nam origin, in recognition of the importance of the native communities that inhabited these lands for millennia. Its main mission is to keep alive the memory of these ancestral cultures, as well as to narrate the transformation of Río Grande from its origins to become a modern city.
