If you are going on a short excursion, it is not necessary that you can ride. A quick theoretical chat with the guide will be enough for you to get used to the reins. Excursions of one or more days are advisable for experienced riders to avoid extreme tiredness at the end of the day. When hiring this kind of tours, it is a good idea to verify the quality of the riding harnesses. It is better to use saddles and long stirrups to climb slopes, whereas if you are going to ride along the plain, simple saddle and trappings will help enjoy the expedition without any difficulty.
