The Pampa Azul Ecocentro is one of Puerto Madryn’s most iconic cultural and scientific venues. Perched on a cliff with a prime view of the Golfo Nuevo, it invites visitors to discover the richness of the Argentine Sea through an experience that blends science, education, art, and environmental awareness. Since opening in 2000, it has established itself as a key center for sharing knowledge about coastal and marine heritage, and since 2022, it has been part of the national Pampa Azul initiative.

Its permanent, interactive exhibits offer insight into Patagonian marine ecosystems, the region's biodiversity, and iconic species such as the southern right whale. The visitor experience includes sensory encounters, audiovisual installations, educational areas, and an observation tower that offers panoramic views of the Golfo Nuevo—and, during the season, the chance to spot whales from the shore.

Outside the building stands the impressive skeleton of a southern right whale, which has become one of the site's most recognizable landmarks. In addition to its exhibits, the Ecocentro hosts cultural activities, talks, art shows, and educational programs that promote understanding and conservation of the marine environment, making it a must-visit destination for anyone wishing to understand the extraordinary nature of Patagonia.
