Naviera Lacar & Nonthue has been operating since 1997, offering transfers to the Quila Quina peninsula and the Hua Hum Excursion, transporting both tourists and residents and, as was done initially, transferring residents with a differential rate.

Since then the arrival of national and foreign tourists has been increasing; and it became necessary, in 1995, to renew the pier and thus the transportation service.
