Carlos Gradin Museum of Archaeology

The Carlos Gradin Museum of Archaeology aims to disseminate and showcase the life of the first hunter-gatherers in the region.

The Carlos Gradin archaeological museum is composed of four rooms: one specifically identity Association, another dedicated to Carlos Gradin his life, work and dedication to the Cueva de las Manos site and the others are destined for research archaeological teams, and an educational leisure area. The Museum offers visitors the possibility of completing his visits to emblematic rock art sites, such as Cueva de las Manos (UNESCO, 1999), because in this museum are the parts and objects that testify to the abode of ancient man in such sites, in addition to which gives the possibility of extending the stay of tourists in the town and the region. At the educational level, it has the particularity that was intended for children. Through the host the guanaco "Chulito" children learn and play with different resources and recreational devices on the topics covering the Museum on your main display. In addition, develop educational programs in conjunction with local institutions and of the entire region. Cultural proposals include different ages and sectors of the community, fostering family integration and collective activities. Ideal for the small tourists!

The complex has a laboratory for scientific research and archaeological reservoir. Rooms specially equipped with necessary instruments for the work of analysis, cleaning, classification, measurement, comparison of signs and relics recovered from the excavations in the area and guard environments have all conditions suitable for the preservation of these materials. An annual agenda of events and activities whose meeting place is the Salón Iturrioz, is an emblematic historic building declared a historical and cultural heritage of Perito Moreno, and landmark provincial of Santa Cruz. It was restored by the Association identity and refurbished as a social meeting place, today runs a café, being "the place" of meeting for the community and visitors in where there are cultural activities, such as presentations of books, thematic exhibitions, musical performances, trainings, and permanent exhibit of antique objects from the region, in addition to the sale of books, souvenirs and handicrafts from the city.
