Trevelin’s tulips: fields in bloom and a shower of petals

More than a million tulips facing the Andes between October and November, and a closing festival with petals falling from the sky.

Every spring, 13 km from Trevelin, more than a million tulips bloom in front of the Andes. This is the Tulipanes Patagonia farm, run by the Ledesma family, the only tulip grower in the region, which opens its paths to the public during the bloom. The season ends with the Tulip Festival and its «petal shower» over the town square.

The blooming season

The fields can be visited every day while the bloom lasts, between October and early November. In 2026 they were open from October 7 to November 7, 9 am to 7 pm, with the best bloom expected from October 15 on, always depending on the weather. That year general admission was $45,000 (Argentine pesos) and children under 12 went free; no booking is needed. The Municipality presented 2026 as the 10th season.

What to do at the farm

  • Walk the paths between the coloured rows and take photos with the snowy peaks behind.
  • Have tea with Welsh pastries at the farm’s tea room.
  • Craft fair with regional products and live music, depending on the program.
  • Full-moon night visits, weather permitting.
  • Hot-air balloon flights at sunrise, only on clear, windless days.

The Tulip Festival

The festival closes the season and is not held at the farm but in Coronel Fontana square, in the centre of Trevelin. A small plane drops tulip petals over the crowd, there is live music and dancing by the local communities, and the Welsh dragon on the tourist office breathes fire. It is organized by the Municipality of Trevelin, Tulipanes Patagonia and Patagonia Bush Pilots. It is usually held in the first week of November: in 2025 it was on Saturday, November 8. The date depends on the weather and is announced by the Municipality.

Getting there

The farm is on national route 259, km 50, 13 km from the centre of Trevelin, on the Welsh Route circuit near the Nant y Fall waterfalls. You can go by car, with local tour agencies, by taxi or on the Jacobsen bus, which in the 2026 season left Coronel Fontana square at 10 am and 2:15 pm and returned at 2:45 pm and 7 pm. Trevelin fills up in October, so book ahead. See accommodation in Trevelin.
