Alto Río Percy, rural tourism

Alto Río Percy is among the alternative tourism destinations that are conquering visitors in search of nature-friendly proposals.

The rural tourism proposal comes from Alto Río Percy, a community next to Esquel, in the surroundings of the winding Percy River that originates between the Cañadón de la Horqueta and the Wooded Loma and flows into the Futaleufú. It's a gem among emerging destinations.

The Ministry of Tourism and Production of the Municipality of Esquel valued this tourist destination with the improvement of services and products, through the project called "Tourism, Community and Nature", attentive to the new normality that will reign between the options for sightseeing, trips most linked to nature and outdoor places. They added stoves, signage installation with all the information, accesses and pedestres roads to reach the river and several sustainable development ventures.

Rural tourism gives the opportunity to know the place, culture and way of life of communities. The visitor is an actor in the daily life of what he consumes and in the productive activities of the community. The ventures open the doors to show the tasks of the countryside and offer regional products such as farm eggs, artisanal capon ham, homemade fruit jams, cherries, cherries, casis and foods of ancestral Mapuche recipes. The river bank is an inescapable date, with the new stoves for lunch or the restorative mattes after a walk. Among the projects to push development in the region was planned the construction of a path, Piedra de la Aguja, which starts in the parking lot of the Tourist Reports office, framed in the network of trails connected with Esquel. This commune is known as the "carreros village" for an old tradition that began in the late nineteenth century when the villagers used the extraction of firewood as an economic bra and took it to Esquel in wagons pulled by oxen. Along the roads, you can still see the carts in the activities of the commune. The potter's culture is valued with an annual heritage conservation festival that adds one more attraction to Alto Río Percy as an alternative destination.
